Wicker

American Antique Wicker

Most antique wicker was made between 1890-1925. We consider the more decorative wicker Victorian and date it to 1890-1925. It is always made of reed. During WW1, we could not obtain the reed to make wicker so the fiber process was invented. It is paper wrapped around a wire. This is much easier to bend and weave. Art Deco is a style of wicker that spans 1910-1925. It is very solid and strong. Bar Harbor is a style of wicker that is very open and was made from 1900 onward. Many of the very simple yet durable pieces we call porch wicker. We have specialized in wicker for nearly 30 years and we will be glad to help you in any way we can.
